Colorado's Premier Driving School for Teens and Adults

Feel Confident Behind the Wheel

We don’t just teach people how to pass a test. We create great drivers. At Anshor Driving School, our state-certified driving instructors have spent over 30 years putting safe, confident, licensed drivers on the road.

Beyond the Test

The Driving School That Teaches The Difference Between Knowing The Answers and Knowing How to Drive.

Passing the driving test isn’t the same as being ready for the road. Many teens and adults earn their license without learning how to handle Colorado’s challenging driving conditions, from slick, snowy roads to fast-paced highway traffic. Every new driver deserves more than just a passing score — they deserve the skills to stay safe to:

Our Foundation

Defensive Driving is Our Driving School's Foundation.

At Anshor Driving School, defensive driving techniques are behind everything we’ve taught since 1994: every classroom hour, every behind-the-wheel lesson, every conversation with our instructors. Our students are leaders on the road, wearing their seatbelt, putting down their phone, and making smart decisions to keep themselves and other drivers on the road safe.

Where We Teach

Colorado State-Approved Driver's Ed in Four Locations

No matter where you live in Colorado, an Anshor location is ready to help your student become a confident, capable driver.

Greeley

Our original location and home base, serving Weld County families since 1994 with classroom courses, behind-the-wheel lessons, and on-site road testing.

Alamosa

Serving the San Luis Valley with the same state-approved curriculum and one-on-one instruction families have trusted in Greeley for decades.

Salida

Bringing Anshor’s driver’s ed program to Chaffee County, with instructors who know how to prepare students for mountain driving conditions.

La Junta

Bringing Anshor’s defensive driving foundation to Otero County, with instructors who know how to prepare students for rural roads and long highway stretches.

Book one-on-one time in a dual-brake training vehicle with a certified instructor, whether you need your required hours or just extra practice before your test.
Schedule your Colorado road test directly with Anshor at participating locations. Open to the public, not just Anshor students.
Bundle your classroom or online course with behind-the-wheel instruction, the most popular way families complete their Anshor program.

Why Anshor

What Makes Our Driving School Different

Pass Your Permit Test Without the DMV Wait

As a state-approved third-party testing site, Anshor can administer the written permit test right here at our locations. Students who are within 30 days of their 15th birthday may be eligible to take their permit test in class, depending on state guidelines at the time of enrollment. Walk-in written permit tests are also available.

Choose How You Learn: Classroom or Online

We offer both a 32-hour in-person classroom course and a 30-hour online driver’s ed program in partnership with AAA. The online course is self-paced, interactive, and state-approved, making it a great fit for students with busy schedules or families outside our classroom locations.

One-on-One Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

Colorado requires most students seeking a license before age 16½ to complete at least six hours of behind-the-wheel training with a state-certified instructor. At Anshor, those six hours are one-on-one with a dedicated instructor in a dual-brake training vehicle approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Take Your Colorado Road Test With Us

As a state-approved third-party testing site, Anshor lets you schedule your Colorado driving test directly with us at participating locations, so you can skip the DMV wait and test in a familiar environment with experienced examiners. This service is available to the general public, not just Anshor students.

Instruction for Teens, Adults, and Seniors

We serve everyone: teens starting fresh, adults who need refresher lessons, seniors who want to stay sharp behind the wheel, and students who just need extra behind-the-wheel time before their test. If you want to drive, we have a program for you.

Our Story

Northern Colorado's Driving School Since 1994

Anshor Driving School was founded by Duane Anderson, a former Driver’s Education instructor at Greeley West and Greeley Central High Schools. Before opening Anshor in 1994, Duane spent years teaching driver’s ed to Greeley students in the classroom. That experience and that passion for keeping young drivers safe is still the foundation of everything we do.
Today, Anshor is locally owned and operated by Tracy Anderson, who has been part of the Anshor family since 2015. Tracy and her team bring that same community-first approach to every student who walks through our doors.
