Classroom Course

Colorado requires students to be at least 14 years and 9 months old on the first day of their driver’s education course. We recommend enrolling closer to your teen’s 15th birthday for the best experience and timing for the permit test.

Online Course

Complete your 30-hour driver’s education online at your own pace, in partnership with AAA. Self-paced, interactive, and state-approved.

What Makes Our Driving School Different

Pass Your Permit Test Without the DMV Wait

As a state-approved third-party testing site, Anshor can administer the written permit test right here at our locations. Students who are within 30 days of their 15th birthday may be eligible to take their permit test in class, depending on state guidelines at the time of enrollment. Walk-in written permit tests are also available.

Choose How You Learn: Classroom or Online

We offer both a 32-hour in-person classroom course and a 30-hour online driver’s ed program in partnership with AAA. The online course is self-paced, interactive, and state-approved, making it a great fit for students with busy schedules or families outside our classroom locations.

One-on-One Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

Colorado requires most students seeking a license before age 16½ to complete at least six hours of behind-the-wheel training with a state-certified instructor. At Anshor, those six hours are one-on-one with a dedicated instructor in a dual-brake training vehicle approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Revenue.

As a state-approved third-party testing site, Anshor lets you schedule your Colorado driving test directly with us at participating locations, so you can skip the DMV wait and test in a familiar environment with experienced examiners. This service is available to the general public, not just Anshor students.

Our Story

Northern Colorado's Driving School Since 1994

Anshor Driving School was founded by Duane Anderson, a former Driver’s Education instructor at Greeley West and Greeley Central High Schools. Before opening Anshor in 1994, Duane spent years teaching driver’s ed to Greeley students in the classroom. That experience and that passion for keeping young drivers safe is still the foundation of everything we do.

Today, Anshor is locally owned and operated by Tracy Anderson, who has been part of the Anshor family since 2015. Tracy and her team bring that same community-first approach to every student who walks through our doors.

How old does my teen need to be to enroll in driver's ed in Colorado?

Does Anshor offer online driver's ed?

Yes. Our online driver’s ed program is 30 hours, self-paced, and state-approved, offered in partnership with AAA. It’s a great option for students with busy schedules or families who live farther from our classroom locations. The online course must be completed within 180 days and includes a final exam requiring a score of 80% or higher.

Can I take my Colorado driving test at Anshor without being a student?

Yes. As a state-approved third-party testing site, Anshor welcomes the general public for road test scheduling. You don’t need to have completed your driver’s ed here to test with us. Walk-in drive test appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm in Greeley, subject to availability. Please call ahead to confirm.

How long does my teen have to hold their permit before testing for their license?

Colorado law generally requires minors to hold their permit for one full year (365 days) before taking the road test. Requirements can vary depending on the student’s age and licensing path, so we recommend confirming your specific timeline with our team or the Colorado DMV.
